The datacenter that we use for our blog is located in lower Manhatten, and has been without power since Hurricane Sandy hit on Monday evening. The datacenter was transitioned to a generator when power was lost, and has been up continuously since the switch. However, the basement of the building (where the fuel is stored) flooded yesterday and so to keep thing running they are manually carrying fuel (17 floors!) to the generators. It seems unlikely that this solution will last for long, and so our blog will probably go down for an undetermined amount of time. Please note that our email will be unaffected.
